Peacock
Galvanised Steel
Unique
(to commission a different peacock sculpture please get in touch)
Inspiration: I wanted to make a "showpiece" for the exhibition, and heard about the "peacock and the dragon" design when I toured the house. Then talking to one of the gardeners I heard that they had had a visiting peacock family (baby peacocks! there are photos on the official Standen instagram page).
Two For Joy
Galvanised Steel
Series 1 of 15
Inspiration: Magpies are one of the birds I recorded in the garden (and you have to make at least 2), the tree is based on a design on a water jug I found in one of the dressing rooms in the house.
The Strawberry Thief
Galvanised Steel
Series 4 of 50
Inspiration: My interpretation of the iconic Morris design. I see a thrush, I don't know if that's what he (or Phillip Webb, who drew all his birds) intended, but that's what I've based my design on.
Butterfly: Peacock
Galvanised Steel
Series 1 of 15
Inspiration: A garden isn't really complete without butterflies. I've framed them in a nod to the specimens widely collected by naturalists during the Victorian/arts and crafts era.
